Using a philips head screwdriver turn counterclockwise to unscrew a knob with standard hex head screws.
How do you take a doorknob off locked door closet.
Tug on the knob and it will slide right off.
Look for a thin slot or a recessed hex head setscrew on the lock side of the doorknob.
This causes the doorknob to separate inside and both sides can be removed from the door.
Push the tip of a narrow blade screwdriver or nailset into the hole.
Pull the spindle from the center of the latch if applicable.
If your knob has a pinhole or small slot opening use a flathead screwdriver to push it inward.
Once triggered the lever or lock trim can be removed from the door.
Use a drill driver to remove the longer mounting screws.

Look closely at the shank of the interior doorknob and you ll see a tiny slot or hole.
