Look for a small letter c d e etc next to the keyhole.
How does a travel door lock work.
The key to match the particular lock lifts the pins to the correct height to allow the latch the part that protrudes into the door frame to be pulled back against the spring allowing the door to open.
When the door is locked the tang is partially in and out of the cylinder.
There is also quite a good diagram on this site in the section called how do yale locks work showing how the pins line up when the key is inserted.
The key card uses a magnetic stripe that contains information that grants access to a particular hotel room door lock.
Push on the left of the door near the handle while you re trying to open the door and it should come unlocked.
This design is widely available online.
If you see a letter this indicates which lettered passkey will unlock it.
When the door is unlocked a part called a tang is resting fully inside of the cylinder.
Inside the cylinder are all the parts that work together with the key to lock or unlock the door.
Start by jiggling the key around to see if you can get it to click.
Global locks have a small lip that can jam and keep the door from opening.
I just wanted to document my make of a travel lock for hotel rooms.
